Press Release for Immediate Release – 25th June 2020
CULTURE NIGHT Carlow 2020 will be RE-IMAGINED in light of the ongoing substantial Covid19 Crisis and its implications for public health
This year in order to be adaptive and responsive to the ongoing and changing Covid19 Crisis Culture Night Carlow 2020 led by the Arts Office in partnership with the Arts Council of Ireland will commission VISUAL Carlow to produce a series of artist led and community interventions. What we have witnessed over the last few months, despite facing uncertainty, is that the arts and cultural sectors have continued to flourish and remain resilient which has been achieved greatly through working together.
Culture Night 2020, due to take place on Friday 18th September, will be different yet still will be widely engaging and available to the Carlow public free of charge. Following the recent government announcement that cultural venues have the potential to reopen as part of phases four and five of the countries reopening plan Culture Night Carlow 2020 will see a carefully managed partnership with VISUAL Carlow.
Carlow holds pride of place as being one of Ireland most culturally diverse counties and has shown great leadership in welcoming new communities which significantly contributes to the Carlow we know today. As the next few months unfold we will make further announcements of the diverse programme that will be curated by VISUAL Carlow responding to this. VISUAL will curate and present a 30 minute on-line and broadcasted artistic programme which will include working with selected local and national artists whilst commissioning a series of new works that will respond to the main theme of the programme ‘Power Strength and the Vision of a New Future’.
Further Announcements will take place over the coming weeks.
