Press Release for Immediate Release – 8th May 2020 – Carlow County Council – Trade Exhibition cancelled for NPA
Following the announcement by the National Ploughing Association that “The NPA have today cancelled the National Ploughing Trade Exhibition due to take place in Ballintrane, Fenagh, Co Carlow from September 15th to 17th but still hope that there will be an opportunity to run the ploughing competitions behind closed gates due to the Covid-19 pandemic”
Carlow County Council , Chief Executive , Kathleen Holohan commented that “while we understand and appreciate the difficulty involved in making a decision such as the cancellation of the trade exhibition in the interest of public safety, we are committed to supporting the NPA in their activities and we hope that in the future County Carlow will be the venue of choice again for the exhibition”. Holohan continued to say “in 2019 , the NPA provided a significant platform for the promotion of County Carlow and showcased not just our agricultural talent but our ability as a county to come together at all levels to support and co-ordinate an event of international scale”
Carlow County Council , Cathaoirleach John Pender commenting said “it was great for County Carlow to have the Ploughing Trade Exhibition in 2019 and I personally had experience of welcoming so many local , regional , national and international visitors to the County”, Pender continued to say “while we understand that the loss of the trade exhibition will be a blow to the local economy in particular our Tourism industry we understand the public health concerns that led to this decision”. Concluding the Cathaoirleach said “it is a pleasure to work with Anna May and her team at the National Ploughing Association and we will look forward to a continued positive working relationship in the future”
