Local Sports Partnership
The County Carlow Local Sports Partnership was developed by County Carlow VEC and Carlow County Council with the support of Carlow County Development Board. The ultimate aim of the LSP is to provide equality of access for all to sport. This will be achieved through extensive consultation with all relevant stakeholders and the development of a sports action plan for County Carlow. The Local Sports Partnership will play a significant role in promoting sports in the County and provide a platform where local clubs and organisations can discuss sports related issues in their community.
As an initial step the County Carlow Local Sports Partnership carried out an Audit of sports clubs and facilities in the County. This involved compiling a considerable amount of information in relation to sporting organisations in the County. This information is vital in planning for sports development in the future and will help identify gaps in service provision.
This County Carlow Sports Directory is compiled from the information gathered during the audit and will assist in the development of links between sporting organisations and the people of Carlow. It will also help people to access information on sporting facilities in the County, provide a communication tool between sporting organisations and hopefully increase participation.
