Carlow Community and Voluntary Forum


Carlow Community & Voluntary Forum was established in January 2000 to represent the Community Sector.  Their primary role is to lobby on behalf of the members of the community and voluntary sector in order to influence policy at local, regional and national level.  Currently the forum has over 135 members from a diverse range of interests that include youth, women, disability, geopraphical areas and tourism.  The members of the elected committee meet once a month which comprises of 25 representatives from groups affiliated to the Forum in 5 Electoral Areas.

The Forum:

  • Provide an information service to Community and Voluntary groups.
  • Identify the training needs of community & voluntary groups & provide suitable training for affiliated members.
  • Support and empower all Community & Voluntary groups in County Carlow.
  • Arrange meeting where affiliated members with common interests can exchange ideas.
  • Provide a directory of Affiliated Community & Voluntary groups in County Carlow.
  • Produce publication such as a Funding Hand book and promotional literature. 


The Forum acts as a representative voice for Community and Voluntary Groups in Co. Carlow onvarious bodies and comittees such as:

Funding Handbook

The Funding Handbook arose from discussions within the Forum in relation to the difficulties which can arise in trying to source funding. The Funding Handbook will be very useful, not just to members of the Forum but to the wider community in County Carlow and beyond. It will assist groups in sourcing funding which will enable them to continue their extremely valuable work. The Handbook is divided in to four parts as detailed below.
