Carlow has a world-class telecommunications and internet infrastructure. A publicly funded MAN ( Metropolitan Area Network ) has recently been installed, servicing all the main industrial and commercial locations in the town. This network is designed to ensure easy access to highly resilient broadband services at competitive cost. This superior telecommunications infrastructure is being made available to private telecoms companies to ensure that a wide choice of service providers is available, thus ensuring competition and therefore lower costs to individual users.

Low Cost WiFi Access
Irelands first open access WiFi mesh network is located in Carlow. The network is deployed on the Carlow fibre optic Metropolitan Area Network, leveraging Government investment in the MAN programme and covers the central area of Carlow town. Homes and businesses in the town have access to a world class municipal WiFi mesh infrastructure. The WiFi mesh network provides users with fast, synchronous internet access on a subscription or pay as go basis. The services are low cost and can even be used to make voice calls.
