How to Join
Call to the Library and fill in an application form.
If you are an ADULT: an annual fee of 10 euro applies to any working adult. Students and those receiving social welfare are entitled to free membership. Proof of eligibility is required.
If you are a CHILD or TEENAGER ( under 18 years ) you need a parent's signature on the application form. Membership is free.
Whats on Offer
- Once joined adults and children 14 years and over can borrow six items for a period of three weeks.
- Children under 14 years can borrow four.
- Internet access is free but subject to a booking system.
- Sessions run for 50 minutes.
- Our public access PCs also offer Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher.
- You can search the Library Catalogue on-line at home, at work, in an Internet café.
- You can also reserve a book on-line and you will be notified by e-mail when you can pick it up.
- You can renew your books on-line and avoid those fines!
Charges
For working adults the membership charge is 10euro per annum. Membership is free for those on social welfare, disability benefit or old age pension, receipt of which must be shown. Membership is also free for third level students and for all those under the age of eighteen.
Fines are charged on overdue books at 10 cent per week. However, fines can be avoided first and foremost by returning your books on time. If you would like to keep your books out for a longer period you can renew them. You may renew items over the web by accessing Your Library Record. PIN numbers are needed to access this facility. Renewals may also be done in person at any of the Library's 3 branches or by phone. Have the barcode numbers on your library card and the materials you want to renew ready.
Internet and computer use in any branch of Carlow County Libraries is free with a charge of 10 cent for every print out.
A photocopying service is provided in all our Libraries and copies are charged at 10 cent per page. Absec cards can be purchased in Carlow Central Library for one euro and they hold ten credits with one credit equalling one copy.
