Public libraries may publish books, either free or for sale, on topics of interest such as local history, well known people, poetry and the history of their libraries.
Carlow Libraries has in recent years compiled and released a number of free publications relevant to the history of Co. Carlow, namely:

- Carlow and the Oral Tradition – David Barron
These publications are available in all Carlow Libraries branches, where stocks last.
